In all of our lives, there's a little rain and a little sunshine. But often we tend to notice the clouds more than the rays. The solution? Practicing a deliberate habit of expressing gratitude.

What does that mean? Thinking about, or even writing down, something that you are grateful for, however small. This shines the spotlight on the positives. Several studies have shown that this is a simple way to boost your happiness, and this has been used as a component of therapy.

Consider adding a gratitude journal to your habit-scape. Or just ask yourself this question when you are about to doze off: what is one thing I am grateful for?
