5 meeting secrets

Meetings that Matter
If you are a leader, you have a disproportionate amount of impact on how meetings are conducted in your team. Recognise that power and use it for good! Most people hate meetings because they don't achieve impact for anyone except the guy doing all the talking (i.e. you).
Here are five ways you can uplevel your meetings:
Cancel more meetings. There will be an immense increase in employee motivation levels, especially if you do this to a Monday meeting. More seriously, read about Maker and Manager schedules to find out why meetings help leaders/managers but cause massive interruptions for people who build things. Reductions help.
Don't have meetings for more than 7 people. Beyond that number, you get what's called 'social loafing' - people who don't (get to) contribute but waste time in the meeting.
Bring snacks, music (especially at the beginning), and toys. Especially if you want a creative, happy atmosphere. Studies show these lower stress and boost focus.
What you do before and after a meeting is as important as what you do in it. Do as Jeff Bezos does, and get people to write their notes in preparation instead of condensing for Powerpoint.
End meetings earlier than planned. No one will complain if you do so!
Try these and you'll see greater personal popularity and acclaim!
