The Zettelkasten system of note-taking for creative, curious people

You read a lot, listen to podcasts, and are used to new ideas colliding and forming inside your mind. But struggled to capture these ideas into an effective note-taking system? 

A German sociologist had the same problem. His solution? The Zettelkasten (‘slip box’) system. Productivity expert Tiago Forte summarises the method and its principles here, also showing how it connects to writing. Three of the ideas from his post:
