How to Make Reading a Habit
This is a post by Sirisha Bhamidipati, upleveler at CTQ
Not just reading, there are 3 important aspects for habit formation -
Being deliberate
Being consistent
Having triggers and nudges to enforce the right behaviour
In order to do all three, you need to build a system / a daily routine, that will help you do this.
Some tips to do this -
Start with reading for 10 -15 minutes every day
Try reading a variety of genres so that boredom doesn’t set it
Set a fixed time of the day that you will read ( after breakfast, before lunch, as soon as you wake up, at 11:00 am, etc.)
Have someone you can account to/ report to - once you finish your daily reading
Have the same person nudge you if you haven’t read in your scheduled slot
Keep a journal and note down your takeaway from what you read ( this also acts as a trigger to read daily)
