‘Planned Serendipity’

Three types of serendipity, according to Dr. Christian Busch, author of The Serendipity Mindset:

  1. Archimides Serendipity: an unexpected solution to a problem you are trying to solve

  2. Post-it Note Serendipity: finding an unexpected solution to a problem you only find later

  3. Thunderbolt Serendipity: a solution that comes out of nowhere, even though you weren’t looking for one

This book resonated a lot with us because we at CTQ do a lot of work on fostering curiosity within organisations. One big pillar is orchestrating ‘randomness’ that can lead to serendipity.
