No, the The Three Musketeers of Persuasion are not Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, but Ethos, Logos, and Pathos. In Rhetoric (i.e. the ancient Greek art and study of persuation), these were three 'devices' through which you can persuade an audience. Rhetoric can be used in speech, in writing, in stories, and perhaps even Powerpoint is not immune to it!
Ethos is making an appeal using the speaker's credibility and values
Logos is appeal by reason
Pathos is appeal by emotion
A study of 500+ TED Talks showed that the components of a typical TED Talk were as follows: 65% Pathos, 25% Logos, 10% Ethos.
The lessons you should draw:
Remember to include all these three elements if possible
Especially Emotion (if you are the analytical type, this is a likely blind spot)
Balance them - see what works for you
