Hello, it's Choose to Thinq: An Introduction in 20 points

(This is from Edition 53 of The Upleveler, our weekly smartletter)

Here are twenty things about CTQ:

  1. Choose To Thinq (CTQ) was founded in 2014 by Harish and Ramanand, and is based in Pune, India.

  2. Our purpose is to help growth-minded teams and individuals 'uplevel' towards future relevance. We help them achieve this by bringing knowledge in interesting ways, creating habits and practice grounds, and enabling reflection and feedback.

  3. For instance, we help organisations foster a culture of innovation and learning so that they can remain relevant even in a changing world.

  4. Our work spans four 'battlefronts': Innovation Culture, Knowledge to Wisdom, Self-Leadership, and Social Capital.

  5. To 'uplevel' means to raise the game, to find a new orbit of operation, to get to that proverbial next level. You can't do this with just one training session or inspirational talk. What you need is to build a comprehensive and sustainable system that takes you there.

  6. All our clients and followers aim to break free of the status quo. That makes them very compelling to work with.

  7. CTQ is designed to be a remote-working, distributed organisation. Our productivity stack is made of tools like Asana and GSuite.

  8. Heard of our 'Work-Ships'? No, that's not a typo. Unlike most workshops, our sessions actually help you 'ship' something concrete. Topics include Procrastination and Orchestrating Innovation.

  9. CTQers come from diverse academic and professional backgrounds. "Research", "Tech", "Marketing", "L&D", "Law", "Journalism", "Engineering", "Quizzing", "Innovation Lab", "Psychology" are some of the keywords you'll see in our CVs.

  10. Much of our work is designed to fit humans living in an increasingly distracted, distributed, and attention-deprived world. For instance, we bring them great ideas from books and other sources in the world via novel quiz-based sessions, stories, and peer conversations.

  11. Since 2018, we have been reading one book summary a day as a group, using our 'Compound' system. This year, we brought that system to the world to enable wider, wiser daily reading.

  12. We are also big on deliberate reflection. To help do this better, we launched "Pause at Yellow", a daily reflection service, a few years ago.

  13. Each year, we put together some unconventional annual calendars. For instance, the calendars have featured book summaries and innovation stories.

  14. The Upleveler, our weekly smartletter, is a compilation of useful ideas, stories, questions, recommendations, and mind levers that help you uplevel your own work and life. Here's an archive of our past editions.

  15. We have two affiliate children brands which operate in other spaces. One is called Thinq2Win, which uses trivia and quizzing to make the world a more interesting place. The other is called Iconiq India which brings families and children closer to India. Here too, you'll see our common DNA: a playful, status quo-busting approach driven by rich and meaningful content.

  16. We have worked with the likes of HBR, VMware, Google, IDeaS, and Capgemini.

  17. To keep ourselves 'future relevant', we have launched an internal programme called 'Future Fitness'. Each person works on areas that will keep them and CTQ more relevant tomorrow.

  18. We often play the role of 'reinforcers' for teams by helping them bridge the gap between learning, doing, and feedback.

  19. Our biggest strength is bringing curated information in interesting and impactful ways such that they resonate with the intended audience.
