CTQ Talks - A complete list
For the last couple of years, we have been giving internal talks on a variety of topics. These dip into our reading, our interests, and our explorations to help all of us Choose To Thinq stay curious and get better at our work. It really helps that we come from diverse backgrounds and points of view.
Here's the list of all talks so far.
1. Gamification
Presented by Omkar Yarguddi
Based on a Coursera course that Omkar Y took. The talk was about using ideas from the world of game design to affect behaviour in non-game situations.
WHY This course provided some interesting insights on how principles from the world of games can be applied to completely unrelated areas of life. It done properly, it could take something fairly boring and repetitive, and turn it into an exciting competition. Something like this is especially relevant to CTQ and T2W where we are trying to engage with people and develop loyal audiences.
2. The World of YouTube Channels
Presented by Omkar Dhakephalkar
Omkar D talks about the world of YT channels through channels of his own interest.
WHY Many people diligently follow several YouTube channels. The talk explored why some YouTube channels work so well in creating 'fandom'. Also their sources of revenue other than adverts (Sponsorships, Patreon etc.). If CTQ or Thinq2Win were to create a YouTube channel as a means of interaction, what kind of interesting content/medium of delivery could we incorporate?
3. Learning to Learn
Presented by J. Ramanand
Based on a Coursera course that Ramanand took, on the best ways to learn anything.
WHY We've all learned knowledge and skills in our life, but we haven't been taught how to learn! Here are a few research-backed techniques to learn better. A lot of CTQ's work is about helping people learn and implement new things.
4. "Switch" - a book on Change
Presented by J. Ramanand
A Quintessence session on how to make change when change happens.
WHY CTQ is in the business of making change happen as part of upleveling. Here's a practical 9-part framework for fostering change.
5. Everyday Sexism
Presented by Yooti Bhansali
What you need to know about routine, mundane sexism which we are all likely to be complicit in
WHY All around us, sexism is rampant, invisible, 'normal'. Let's not keep it that way.
6. "How to measure your life"
Presented by B.V.Harish Kumar
A Quintessence session on the book by Clayton Christensen. Clayton Christensen has written several business books on topics like innovation. A book with a title like this, written by him comes as a surprise. He tries to draw parallels between decision-making in the world of business and in life. Business runs on measures. He tries to answer three important questions that would help measure your life and in the process find your path to achieve the purpose of your life.
WHY Take a look at the way you lead life and see if this approach helps.
7. "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up"
Presented by Sanasi Kelkar
A session based on the book about de-cluttering by Marie Kondo.
WHY Life is a mess, but it doesn't have to remain so. Learn to fold clothes better, bid goodbye to what you don't need, and make space.
8. "Decisive"
Presented by Omkar Yarguddi
A Quintessence session on the book about a 4-step method to better decisions. Very often, we are faced with situations where it looks like we only have two bad options. Decisive shows how one can jump out of the frying pan and not land in the fire by effectively combating the major villains of decision-making.
WHY We make decisions all the time. And we help our clients make better decisions en route to upleveling themselves.
9. "Exponential Organizations"
Presented by Sirisha Bhamidipati
A book on building organisations that make tremendous leaps in 21st century business environments.
WHY How can we help CTQ's clients make exponential leaps? What does it take to do so? Should CTQ set its sights on doing something like this?
10. The Fogg Behaviour Model
Presented by J. Ramanand
What affects behaviour? Knowing the components of behaviour can help us bring change in people and understand ourselves better. Prof. B.J.Fogg's behaviour model tells us why not to rely too much on motivation and instead of figuring out the right environment for humans to behave as desired.
WHY Upleveling involves helping humans bring changes to their behaviour. The model helps design programs for change and to empathise deeply with people we want to bring change in.
11. "Good to Great"
Presented by Omkar Yarguddi
"Good to Great" studied a bunch of great companies. It underlines various lessons one can learn from them and tells us how to apply them to build great organizations.
WHY The organisations we work with aspire to greatness. So do we.
